Someone please design an industrial level version of the fiskar telescoping pole pruner

I have one and agree. It is an amazingly useful and user-friendly tool, just a bit wimpy for regular professional use.

That said, I still recommend them for people who do any level of detail pruning, there are times when especially that articulating head makes all the difference in the world. Even if it doesn't last a long time, they are cheap...

I absolutely love mine. You can get anything up to about 17' if it is small enough and still green. The speed and ease of all the adjustments is hard to beat.

Huh, very unusual cutter-head shape on that one. I do like the idea of a powered cutting action to reduce worker strain, but honestly the biggest feature of this Fiskers one is how LIGHT it is, and the ability to cut a piece, then use the same cutterhead to grab the piece, pull it out of the tree and lift it away to the ground. Not sure you could do that with a powered cutter, as it takes very fine control.

Yes that is a great feature. If removing a branch over something fragile, we’ll hold the branch with the fiskars and cut it with the pole saw.

Also called the Pruning Stik, it is also a rope handling tool. I have a collection of them spanning years. Set the head at 90 degrees, place throw bag in grip, reach up, over, release, grab , pull back.

If you ever truly break one beyond repair take it apart and check out the clever design.

To the OP, the beauty is the strength thy already achieved yet with light weight. You can one hand hold other pull beyond what you'd expect. Also for really reaching, you hold the very end and pop off the ball end and pull it instead of the slide handle. I built a 6 ft extension add on for mine. I then add 6 ft of temporary pull cord too.

there is a better version:

Yeah those look nice. I emailed the link to sappy supplies and monkey beaver. Hopefully we can get those sold by good people here in the U.S.

Many years ago I went to a pruning class. Some guy brought a fiskars pruning stick. I tried it and he was impressed that I could pick the cut limb out of the tree. He told the class that it doesn’t hold up worth a damn, but comes with a lifetime warranty, so he bought two and rotates them for warranty returns.

Slightly different visually same, shrunken version (shorter)

On bottom right of the page Archman Helium 400 - has exact specs

Question - Fiskars Stik is 4.5 lbs/2 kg - how did they make the He4 stronger at 1.67 kg?

My guess is because it is quite a bit shorter it can be slightly more stout and still lighter. Also, a shorter pull line has a little less stretch so it has more of the pull input transferred to the cut. If you're talking about the other one that is about the same length as the Pruning Stik, disregard my comments.

Anyone use the LimbZipper? It looks to be well made and effective with good reach. It had better be a great tool for $400.
